Surftech’s Candice Appleby wins Science Hawaii Women’s Pipeline Pro LB Division
On Friday, April 1st, the infamous Bonzai Pipeline was in the hands of many of the worlds top female surfers! The 2011 Science Hawaii Womens Pipeline Pro presented by Surf n Sea featured perfect waves and weather on O’ahu’s North Shore. With whales breaching offshore and waves in the 4-8 foot range with light trades the girls couldn’t have asked for better conditions. 42 of the best women surfers and bodyboarders from Hawaii and around the world are there to compete for $3000 in prize money and the opportunity to surf empty Pipeline for a day.
In the longboard division, Surftech team rider, Candice Appleby took first place, with Megan Godinez finishing in 2nd, Lindsay McGill 3rd and Emilia Perry completing the final foursome.
In the shortboard divison, Kaua‘i’s Tatiana Weston-Webb took first place while fellow Kaua‘i surfer Brianna Cope, finished 2nd, Anastasia Ashley 3rd and Paige Alms 4th.The Women’s Pipeline Pro bodyboarding title went to Karla Costa Taylor, with Claudia Ferrari, Aoi Koike and Carolina Casemiro rounding out the top four.
